Murano Glass Orange Square Gold Earrings
If you are looking for unique Murano glass earrings, look no further. These earrings are handcrafted in Italy with calcedonia glass and yellow gold in a beautiful orange color.
Calcedonia is a difficult temperamental glass produced only by a few furnaces in Murano, Italy. It was first discovered in the mid 1400's and the recipe was lost with the fall of the Venetian Republic. It was later recreated by Lorenzo Radi in the mid 1800's and yet unfortunately again lost. The famous glass sculptor Loredano Rosin is credited with rediscovering the secrets of the glass and even today, his brother Dino Rosin uses this elusive glass for his sculptures. The ever changing colors are due in large part to the addition of silver nitrate with the clear glass.
